The victims -- Ava Wolfe, Jayden Butterfield, and Violet Corrado -- were passengers in a 2025 Toyota Corolla that was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 54 when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle collided with a GMC Terrain heading eastbound at approximately 8 p.m., according to reports.

The force of the impact caused the Corolla to veer off the road, striking both a fence and a tree, KSDK reported. The driver of the GMC Terrain, a 38-year-old man, also died at the scene. The crash occurred two miles south of the small town of Walker, Missouri.

Both vehicles were a total loss, with officials noting that only four of the ten individuals involved were wearing seatbelts. In addition to the three fatalities, four passengers in the SUV -- two 16-year-old girls from Osceola, an 18-year-old woman, and a 39-year-old woman -- sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious, as relayed by The Daily Mail.

The driver of the Corolla, a 38-year-old man, also suffered serious injuries. All injured individuals went to nearby hospitals, and emergency responders pronounced Wolfe, Butterfield, and Corrado dead just before 11 p.m.

Community Grieves After Tragic Crash

The identities of the victims have not been publicly confirmed by police, but the Climax Springs School District, where the three young adults had recently graduated, expressed grief over the loss.

"Ava and Jayden were both beloved employees of the district, who dedicated their time and talent to our students each day," the district wrote in a statement on Facebook. "As students, all of these individuals left a legacy within our school."

Corrado had aspired to become a high school English teacher, as noted in a senior spotlight posted in May. Wolfe had recently purchased a Ford Bronco, a local dealership shared in a tribute.

"Just yesterday, Ava was here, filled with joy and excitement as she drove home in her Bronco," Maples Ford wrote. "To now be facing this heartbreaking loss is truly unimaginable."

In an emotional Facebook post from February 2022, Ashley Butterfield reflected on the fleeting nature of time as she watched her daughter, Jayden, play basketball for the last time.

"Watching these girls grow up, do what they love, laughing and cheering each other through tough games and always lifting each other up has come to an end," she wrote. "It's all over. I just blinked and it's over."

The Climax Springs School District announced plans to provide counseling services for students and staff on Monday and Tuesday in the wake of the tragedy.
