The Voice announced this year's winner as Gina Miles on Tuesday night's finale (May 23), making first-time coach Niall Horan a first-time winner on the show. Many fans were overjoyed by the results, and they shared their congratulations with Miles on social media.
One Twitter user reacted to the news, writing, "literally cant stop smiling she deserved it so much!!" Another loyal fan wrote, "I screamed in my bedroom watching her WIN!! I scared my family haha I'm SO Happy for Gina! I've been rooting for her since Day One!! Woohoooo." Similarly, another viewer tweeted, "Gina is so deserving! She has so much potential!"
However, as with all things, there were some viewers who didn't agree with the final results of the show. Fans of the runner-up contestant, country singer Grace West, were particularly disappointed that she didn't take home the crown — which would have been Blake Shelton's final win on the show.
One Twitter user referenced Miles, writing, "She was good, but disappointed that Grace West didn't win for Blake Shelton final show. I truly thought Grace West was gonna win." Another fan expressed his opinion that West deserved much more than second place, writing, "Poor Grace she's probably going down as the most robbed #TheVoice contestant ever." Other fans were direct and to the point, with one viewer writing, "GRACE WEST SHOULD HAVE WON THE VOICE."
As part of her win, Miles will receive a recording contract with Universal Music Group. West — who was Shelton's final chair turn during the blind auditions — shared at the beginning of her journey that she already works as a songwriter in Nashville, Tenn., so the country music community will surely hear more from the Michigan native in the future.
Tuesday night's finale served as Shelton's final goodbye to The Voice after 23 seasons, and it featured many sweet tributes to the longtime coach. Shelton will be replaced by Reba McEntire for season 24, and returning judges Horan, Gwen Stefani and John Legend will join her.
