Google Maps Catches Murderer At The Wrong Time
The photo shows a man putting a large plastic body-sized bag in the trunk of a red car in a back alley in the village of Tajueco. This timely Google Maps image ended up being the key piece of the puzzle for a missing persons case dating back to November 2023.
Police were able to find the dismembered remains of a male body a week ago, hidden in a cemetery in Andaluz. Previously, on November 12, the authorities arrested a couple, Manuel and Alicia, as possible suspects in the man's murder.
Spanish reports suggest that there could've been a love triangle between the arrested couple and the dead man. He ended up being Alicia's husband, although they had reportedly been living separately.
The husband went missing over a year ago when a friend reported his disappearance. His friend received strange texts from the victim, in which he confessed to meeting a woman and his plans to leave Spain to be with her.
Manuel is connected to the case as he called himself Alicia's ex-partner. He also runs a bar in Bayubas de Arriba, the same bar the victim supposedly worked at as a waiter. Cadena SER, a news outlet, reported this.
The 33-year-old husband may now be brought to justice with the perfectly timed Google Maps image that helped find his remains. Unfortunately, some of his limbs are still missing, but the cops found the majority of them.
The investigation continues, and the authorities have not yet made any charges. The arrested couple could face manslaughter or murder charges, all thanks to Google. The wildest part of it all is the fact that the Google Maps vehicle hadn't visited Tajueco in 15 years. It just so happened to capture the moment where the suspected murderer was hiding evidence of his crimes.
