Gingerbread French Toast

Turn your breakfast into a festive affair with this Gingerbread French Toast. This breakfast is best served with maple syrup.

  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rum extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 8 slices french bread
  • 2 Tbsp butter


  • In a bowl whisk together the half-and-half, eggs, sugar, rum extract, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.
  • Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat and add butter. Dip each piece of bread into the mixture on both sides and add to skillet in a single layer. You may have to do this in batches. Cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Serve.


Serve this dish with maple syrup and butter.
This makes a beautiful Christmas morning dish.
