According to WTOC, the tragic accident took place on Sunday, April 6, on I-945 in McInthosh County at around 6 a.m. Reagan Dougan was driving her Jeep SUV southbound at the time. At one point, her vehicle struck the back of a sedan. This prompted her vehicle to hit the center guardrail, causing it to burst into flames.

Upon arrival, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed that Reagan Dougan and her children were at the scene. These included a nine-year-old boy, a four-year-old boy, a two-year-old girl, and a three-month-old boy.

According to ABC News, Dougan was driving a rental car from North Carolina to meet her husband in Florida when the fatal accident took place. The sedan driver was transported to a local hospital. As per the Savannah Morning News, the unidentified driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. I-95 remained closed for four hours.

Family Remembered

WRAL reported that Dougan and her family had moved to Raleigh just a few months before the tragic accident. Neighbors remembered the family fondly, mentioning how the Dougan boys would climb the trees in their yard.

"We always waved at each other, she always had a smile on her face. The kids were always happy," neighbor Jason Flores told the outlet. "Their food always smelled good when they cooked it. It was something that we never really got to share any time together but passing by. I can imagine them here now, but they're gone the next."

This tragic accident comes a week after a similarly fatal accident claimed the lives of Texas high school baseball player Connor McCaffety and his parents.

According to KWTX, the family was heading to a baseball game when Clint McCaffety, Connor's father, stopped at the Milam, Burleson county line in a construction zone. Another vehicle stopped behind the McCaffetys. Moments later, an 18-wheeler crashed into the two vehicles. Connor, Clint, and Meghan, Connor's mother, died in the crash.
