The King of Country himself will perform at the 2017 MusiCares Person of the Year gala. The tribute event will be honoring musician Tom Petty this year. George Strait (along with fellow country star Lucinda Williams) is just one of many well-known musicians featured in the lineup. The ceremony will take place just two days before the 59th Grammy Awards and is part of the week's celebrations.
Other artists set to perform at the gala on Feb. 10 are Foo Fighters, Don Henley, Norah Jones, Kings Of Leon and Stevie Nicks, just to name a few. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will take the stage at the end of the night.
MusiCares is an organization that provides financial support to musicians in need of financial and medical assistance. All of the proceeds from the tribute ceremony will go to MusiCares' cause.
The organization chose iconic singer Tom Petty for their 27th annual Person of the Year Award. According to MusiCares, he was selected based on his "significant creative accomplishments, his career-long interest in defending artists' rights, and the charitable work he has undertaken throughout his career."
Curious what happens at the Person of the Year gala? The night kicks off with a reception and silent auction, followed by a dinner and performances by renowned artists. If you're hoping to attend, you can shell out a cool $75,000 for a VIP ticket.
Musicians honored in years past include Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen.
