Get ready, George Strait fans. The King of Country is headed to the 2019 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
The big news was announced earlier this morning (May 15). KHOU reports that the festival added an additional day to the festivities just for Strait's performance. The concert will be held on Sunday, March 17, and will mark the country star's 30th career RodeoHouston performance.
"We are extremely excited to welcome George Strait back to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo," Joel Cowley, Rodeo president and CEO, said in a statement. "George has a long history with the Rodeo, first taking the stage back in 1983. He's been with us through many of our major milestones during the past three decades, has entertained more than 1.5 million RODEOHOUSTON fans and is the only platinum honoree on our Star Trail of Fame."
Strait's appearance will mark his only performance in Texas for 2019, and tickets are expected to sell out quickly. A small amount of season tickets will go on sale on Aug. 1, 2018. Individual tickets for Strait's performance and other rodeo festivities will become available in January 2019.
