Former President George H.W. Bush has been hospitalized in Texas due to a reoccurrence of pneumonia.
According to The Houston Chronicle, the former president is undergoing treatment at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was admitted Friday, April 14 for observation because of a persistent cough.
The doctors have diagnosed Bush with a mild case of pneumonia, according to a statement from Bush's spokesman, Jim McGrath.
McGrath said the former president "is in very good spirits and is being held for further observation while he regains his strength."
This isn't the first time Bush has been hospitalized for his health. Earlier this year, Bush spent 16 days in the hospital with a case of pneumonia. His wife was also admitted at the same time due to fatigue and a reoccurring cough.
No matter the severity of the situation, both Barbara and George always seem to be in great spirits. This became evident when the Bushes canceled their plans to attend the inauguration of President Donald Trump over health concerns.
"My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under. Same for Barbara. So, I guess we're stuck in Texas," H.W. Bush wrote to Trump.
Bush was also hospitalized in 2015 after falling at his home in Maine, breaking a bone in his neck. In 2012, Bush spent Christmas in intensive care because of a bronchitis-related cough, along with other issues.

Although Bush is the oldest living U.S. president and suffers from Parkinson's disease, he doesn't let that keep him from participating in lively public events. When Bush turned 90, he celebrated his birthday by making a tandem parachute jump in Maine. Last summer, Bush also led a group of 40 wounded warriors on a fishing trip, just days after turning 92.
