Over fifty-five thousand pounds of frozen blueberries distributed in Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington, and Michigan, plus Canada, are being recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria. The voluntary recall was issued by the Oregon Potato Company based in Salem, Oregon, on February 12, 2026, per Newsweek. Then on February 24, 2026, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) labeled this a Class ! recall. That indicates, per the FDA, there is a risk of "serious adverse health consequences or death" if a product is used. It is the FDA's highest classification in terms of severity.

According to Newsweek, the recall involves "55,689 pounds of "Individually Quick Frozen" (IQF) blueberries, produced by Willamette Valley Fruit Company...." They were sold in industrial-size containers and smaller corrugated cases.

Ingesting Food Contaminated With Listeria Is Dangerous
Per the FDA. eating food that is contaminated with Listeria can be very hazardous to your health. The disease is causes is known as listeriosis. This bacteria is usually found in places such as rotting vegetation soil, animals, sewage, and water.
According to the FDA, "There are two forms of the disease: the less severe, non-invasive gastrointestinal listeriosis, and the more severe form, invasive listeriosis...."
Symptoms of the less severe type of the illness can include vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and nausea. The more serious type of listeriosis can involve convulsions, confusion and headache. "Invasive listeriosis is a potentially life-threatening event, especially for newborns, adults over the age of 65, and those with weakened immune systems."
Pregnant women who develop this illness can experience "severe outcomes." They can include, per the FDA, premature delivery, stillbirth, miscarriage, or having a baby with a life-threatening infection.
