Sorry, metal fans, but Mudvayne, a popular '90s metal band, is taking a break. Lead singer Chad Grey recently announced the hiatus via an Instagram post.

"Mudvayne is taking a break for 2026 but I just can't do that," Gray wrote in the caption. "Music, creating, and playing are the wells that I draw my happiness from, so I need to keep going."
However, it looks like Gray will continue performing solo, with renditions of tracks from both his bands, Mudvayne and Hell Yeah.
"As of right this second, this will be one show on the 24th of April in Las Vegas at [Backstage Bar & Billiards] in downtown [Las Vegas], and we will just have to see what happens from there," Gray's caption continued. "But I tell ya what ... this is gonna be FUUUUN. Mudvayne and Hellyeah songs from the same stage, the same night, at the same time. I'm sure there will be some storytelling, too. I know many people will be coming in for the [expletive] amazing 'Sick New World' festival, so if you're bored the night before, come on by and hang out with us!"
Chad Gray's Upcoming Show Will Be a Can't-Miss Event
Gray's upcoming show in Las Vegas is operating under the name of "30 Years Of Madness," and it's certainly creating a buzz among the metal community. In fact, Brave Words has labeled it as a "one-of-a-kind show."
"This one of a kind event will feature the hits of Mudvayne and Hellyeah performed live with special guests Marcus Rafferty (touring guitarist for Mudvayne) and Christian Brady (guitarist for Hellyeah)," Brave Words wrote. "In direct support of the special event will be Kami Kehoe."
Mudvayne has been highly successful over the past 30 years. They thrived during the Nu Metal era, and continued to produce quality new music as Emo swept through the younger generations. The crowd in Las Vegas will likely be a healthy mix of elder millennials, some younger millennials and possibly some Gen Z who appreciate music from the 90s and 2000s.
Mudvayne taking a hiatus is certainly a blow to the metal industry. But after decades of success, it's a logical step for the group, especially if they use the time to refuel their creative spirit.
