Lauren Tom, best known for her work on the sitcom Friends, recently took to Instagram to share some news about her daughter, Ellie.

The actress, who played Ross' girlfriend Julie on the show's second season, announced that Ellie has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
What Is Osteosarcoma?
According to the Mayo Clinic, osteosarcoma is a bone cancer. It is most often found in teenagers and young adults. Symptoms include bone or joint pain, swelling, and pain related to a bone that breaks for no clear reason.
In the caption of the carousel of photos of Ellie, the Friends alum shared that Ellie's "family and I are doing everything we can to aid in her healing."
"I am reminded of the Fred Rogers quote, 'When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping,'" she wrote in the post's caption.
She added, "In that light, I'd like to thank our friends and family, and the incredible doctors and nurses at @cedarssinai for their ongoing boundless support, love, and care. It is truly humbling to see how willing people are to reach out and help."
The "Friends" Star Is Asking for Prayers
Tom went on to praise Ellie for being "an amazing, deep, sensitive, wise, strong, brave, intelligent, and funny soul." She added that she is "beautiful inside and out." But Tom also acknowledged that she and Ellie are about to embark on a tough road.
"We have a long journey ahead of us.. Would you be so kind to keep Ellie in your prayers for a complete recovery, and perhaps leave a comment for her here, or on her account? @eliatom_."
Many of Tom's peers, including Clancy Brown and Ken Jeong, shared their support of Tom and Ellie. The Friends star then acknowledged everyone's kind words in the comments.
"Thank you all so much for this overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers," she wrote. "We have read each comment, and are filled with gratitude that you are holding us in your hearts."
