"Freestyle Roll": Bunnie XO Says Jelly Roll Didn't Write a Grammy Speech Ahead of Time

Bunnie Xo revealed how Jelly Roll didn't have any pre-written speeches for his Grammy Award wins on Sunday, Feb. 1

On Sunday, Feb. 1, Shaboozey won his first Grammy Award for his duet with Jelly Roll on "Amen." The award was the first Grammy for both artists; however, Jelly Roll did go on to scoop another two through the night. Still, that's neither here nor there.

During a recent episode of Bunnie Xo's "Dumb Blonde" podcast, she recalled a conversation she had with Shaboozey during the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala on Jan. 31.

"He was like, 'Does Jelly have a Grammys speech already written?" Bunnie Xo recalled how Shaboozey manifested his success. "I was like, 'No. You know my husband is Freestyle Roll. He doesn't write anything.' He was like, 'Well, I have. I wrote a Grammys speech.' And I was like, 'Boozle, you are manifesting."

Bunnie Xo's revelation is heartwarming for two reasons. On the one hand, the award meant so much to Shaboozey that he felt the need to have something pre-written. On the other hand, Jelly Roll is so humble that he will just speak from the heart if success comes his way. The "Save Me" singer wasn't pre-empting success, despite being one of the biggest stars on the planet right now.

Jelly Roll Is Giving Away One of His Grammy Awards

When speaking with Entertainment Tonight after the Grammy's, Bunnie Xo revealed that Jelly Roll will be giving away one of his Grammy Awards.

"I know he's going to give one to the Juvenile in Nashville to kind of give them a little inspiration and let them have a Grammy to themselves," she said. "That is my husband," Bunnie Xo said. "That's what he does."

Jelly Roll's decision is likely due to his own experiences in a Juvenile facility. In 2022, during an interview with People, he explained how influential his time in Juvenile detention was for him.

"I was in and out of there for about three, three and a half years. I spent a lot of time there and eventually got charged as an adult for a crime I committed as a juvenile. And I just realized that was the most impactful thing that ever happened in my life, and the darkest moments of my life still were being that 15-year-old scared kid spending Thanksgiving away from his family."

Jelly Roll is all about giving back. This is just another example of his kind nature. Hopefully, that Grammy Award will help inspire some other troubled teenagers to reach for their wildest dreams in search of happiness and success.
