Free Kentucky Cruise

This Free Kentucky Cruise is the Ultimate Summer Riverboat Adventure

The Bluegrass State has more to offer than just the Kentucky Derby and the Makers Mark Distillery. The great American state of Kentucky is full of fun summer activities, but this cruise on a riverboat really can't be beat for some quality family fun this summer. Sit back and relax as you cruise in the Kentucky River Thorobred, all for free.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is funding the river cruise in a 52-foot boat. The tours are led by Kentucky State University, which adds a lot of education to the cruise line excursion. Dozens of people are able to fit in the indoor and outdoor space of the boat and learn all about the river as they take in the beautiful scenery.

This special event is available Spring through the beginning of Fall and departs River View Park in Frankfort (about an hour outside of Louisville). Be sure to check out their Facebook page because you'll need to call ahead to reserve your spot.

The 90-minute trip has an itinerary full of fun facts to teach you about the environment, water quality, the history of the Kentucky River, and even a visit to the dam. All while cruisin' along the beautiful water. This little known cruise really is a hidden gem in the Frankfort area and it's really cool that the University is working towards educating people about the local river they see every day. It's unlikely every attendee knows the ins and outs of water quality or what the purpose of a dam even is.

All you need is a little live music and maybe a raffle to get the riders involved in learning all about the river and this might be the coolest free activity anywhere. Make sure to act fast to reserve your space because dates are booking up like crazy.
