Christina Lynn Downer, 38, the sister of SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie, 40, vanished last December. Now, he has made the announcement that she is allegedly dead, reportedly according to police, and may possibly have been murdered, per People. Fowlie posted a long, heartfelt, and detailed message on Instagram on April 29 disclosing the news about Downer. (Many photos with the post depict her as a child and as a joyous young woman. Fowlie wrote in part, "The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no linger alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation."
The Los Angeles Police Department Released a Statement That Gives Some Different Information Than Fowlie's
In a statement via Newsweek, the Los Angeles Police Department made comments about the case that significantly differ from what Jimmy Fowlie said himself. The statement, reportedly issued on April 30, noted, "Robbery-Homicide Division continues to investigate the disappearance of Christina Downer. Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide. RHD will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached. Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Robbery-Homicide Division at (213) 486-6850."
Fowlie Contends That Somebody Wanted To Make It Appear That Downer "Was Going off the Grid"
Fowlie ominously notes in his post that before Downer disappeared, her family thinks "her phone and social media were compromised." Additionally, he explained, "The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was 'going off the grid.'"
