Sitcom star Danny Pintauro is perhaps known for his role as Jonathan Bower on the ABC show Who's the Boss?

The beloved program ran for eight seasons. But once it disappeared from the airwaves in 1992, Pintauro largely stepped away from the spotlight.
However, the former child actor has found a different role in recent years. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you might see him delivering a package to your doorstep. Pintauro recently shared on Instagram that he is delivering packages for Amazon.
"Working hard while 'not working.' The entertainment business has been soooo slow, so I've been doing what a lot of people do — figuring it out, showing up, and taking the work that's there while I keep building the work I really want. 38 packages today! There's no shame in staying in motion," he wrote in the caption.
The Sitcom Star Is Trying to Revive His Acting Career
Pintauro has faced an evolving entertainment industry. The former sitcom star told TODAY.com that pilot season in California in the 1980s and 90s was "nuts." With the industry continuing to shrink, one network reportedly ordered just eight pilots.
Being a gig worker fits Pintauro's lifestyle at the moment. It offers him a flexible schedule, allowing him to earn money and continue auditioning. It also allows him some privacy.
"I take a picture and walk away. No one sees me," he said.
By sharing his experience, Pintauro hopes to break the stigma around actors taking regular jobs while between jobs.
"Honest work is not embarrassing," he remarked.
Pintauro has spent the last few years trying to rebuild his career. Aside from appearing in the occasional role, he's also an acting coach and builds decorative book nooks.
But Pintauro is also aware of the challenges he faces. In addition to shaking the persona of his character on Who's the Boss, the former sitcom star is openly gay and living with HIV. He still remains cautiously optimistic that the right opportunity will come.
Danny Pintauro Isn't the Only Actor Turning to the Gig Economy
Last month, we reported that Better Call Saul actor John Christian Love is working for Amazon as a driver. He posted a picture of himself in a blue-and-grey vest, inside a truck with packages ready for delivery, on a subreddit for Amazon drivers.
"Just want yall to know that as the actor who brought you the character 'Ernesto/Ernie' in Better Call Saul, that I too am out here delivering with you," he wrote.
"It sucks," he added. "But 1 delivery at a time. Be blessed out there!"
