Kevin Johnson has passed away at the age of 55, per TMZ. Johnson is a former wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders. Details surrounding his death have not been released.

Johnson began his footballing career at Los Angeles Harbor College after growing up in Southern California. After impressing there, he transferred to Texas Southern. His performances in Texas were clearly enough to impress visiting scouts, as he was ultimately drafted to the New England Patriots with the 86th overall pick in 1993.
Unfortunately for Johnson, he was released in August of the same year. However, two years later, Johnson got another shot at the NFL, signing with the Eagles. He made 11 appearances as a rookie, recording six sacks, 19 tackles, and a touchdown via fumble recovery.
Johnson was also part of the Eagles roster for the 1996 season, making 12 appearances before being cut in December. He returned to the NFL in 1997, joining the Raiders, where he played in 15 games, making a total of 11 tackles.
That proved to be Johnson's last year in the NFL. He then found his way to the Arena Football League, winning the 1998 championship with the Orlando Predators.

The Eagles' season has come to an end. They lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 season Wild Card game, 23-19. The loss saw the reigning NFL champions eliminated from postseason play.
A poor showing from A.J. Brown played a role in the Eagles' loss. However, head coach Nick Airianni has since defended his star wide receiver.
"He's got the best hands I've ever seen," Sirianni said. "The way he catches the ball, the amount of different types of catches that he's made. When you get as many targets as he does, you're going to have some drops. Not ever using an excuse, but the ball moves differently in the wind."
Johnson never got to experience postseason success with the Eagles during his playing days. However, he likely enjoyed watching his former team lift the trophy at the end of last season.
