Former NFL Pro Bowler Le'Veon Bell has been jailed for missed child support payments. As reported by Yahoo!Sports, he was booked on Monday, July 20 after his arrest on July 19.
He is alleged to have missed child support payments because he is being charged based on his income whilst playing in the NFL, according to his attorney, Thomas Shaffer.
Shaffer claimed that Bell was being assessed based on his 2020 income from the Kansas City Chiefs. Bell hasn't played in the NFL since his 2021 stints for the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Six months ago he cashed in an NFL pension to pay $50,000 in child support for that child," Shaffer explained. "His guidelines are still inaccurately being deemed based on his NFL salary and his professional boxing career."
"This is a revolving door because he pays a number that doesn't reflect his true income. The issue will never end. The court needs to reflect his true income."
He is currently being held in the Stark County Jail, in Ohio. According to the outlet, he is there on a "courtesy hold for another agency".
While it isn't clear exactly who this is, it has been confirmed that the Michigan Attorney General's Office are involved in the case. More details will likely be released soon.

The NFL Pro Bowler Was At a Meet and Greet
The day of his arrest, Le'Veon Bell was at a meet and greet in Canton, Ohio, in the Belden Village Mall. The location isn't far from where the NFL star was jailed.
The event was entitled "Autographs at Prime Time - Le'Veon Bell", according to the website.
The site reads, "Come to Prime Time Sports & Framing on Sunday, July 19th for a meet & greet with Le'Veon Bell!"
The website continued to say that autographs, inscriptions, and photo opportunities were all offered at the event.
Bell had played 8 NFL seasons, first signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013. He spent five seasons with the team, before skipping a season due to a contract dispute.
After a stint with the New York Jets, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he hung up the towel.
