Jack Pugh, a former tight end for the Wisconsin Badgers, has sadly passed away at the age of 25. No cause of death has been revealed.

Jack Pugh has sadly passed away at the age of 25. Pugh is best known for his time playing as a tight end for the Wisconsin Baders. The team released a statement confirming his passing.

Pugh spent three years in Wisconsin's program, having arrived as a four-star prospect in the class of 2021. According to TMZ, Pugh didn't begin his football career until his junior year in high school. However, his performances on the field led to a string of offers from division 1 powerhouses, including the likes of Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State.

Unfortunately, Pugh opted to walk away from collegiate football in 2023. He worte an emotional statement on his Instagram page confirming his decision.

"To whom it may concern, I made a decision before the football season to medically retire, that I haven't yet formally announced,"

Pugh's statement then detailed the struggles he'd been facing.

"Over years of prolonged depression and substance abuse, I decided I deserved a better life and to finally find happiness. In no way was football the root of these problems, but everything in my life had distracted me for so long to the point I never had prioritized my mental health all along, digging a deeper darker hole."

Despite stepping away from Wisconsin's football program, TMZ has reported that Pugh remained at the school. He graduated with a degree in 2025.

No details regarding Pugh's cause of death have been released. Details of his funeral will most likely remain private.
