The Orange is the New Black actress has stated that the alleged incident occurred 20 years ago at an Australian nightclub when Rose was in her 20s.

What Did Ruby Rose Say About Katy Perry?

Rose discussed the incident on Threads after responding to a Complex Music post about Perry's thoughts on Justin Bieber's recent Coachella set.

"Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne," she wrote. "Who gives a shit what she thinks."

In other posts, Rose said she was grateful to fans for their support.

"I was only in my early 20s. I'm now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly," she wrote. "Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me."

In addition to her own posts, Rose also replied to a fan who said they believed the actress' alleged account.

Rose wrote, "Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself 'it's ok, you don't need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer. But then I see this post and ... tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you."

Has Katy Perry Said Anything About This?

USA Today reported that a representative for Perry released a statement regarding Rose's accusations.

"The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies," it read. "Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

Rose subsequently wrote that she planned to go to a police station to see if an investigation could be initiated. She later updated, saying, "I did it."

"I will write about the process of reporting. Both crimes that occurred when you were a child, and those that occurred as an adult ( at least in Australia )," she wrote. "But for now I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok."

Beyond this incident, it should be noted that Rose left the show Batwoman in 2020. She then claimed the environment on set was hostile and then made multiple misconduct allegations against producers and executives.

Warner Bros. called her accusations "revisionist history" and said her firing was "based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior."

Perry was previously accused of sexual misconduct by an actor from her "Teenage Dream video. He accused her of verbal abuse and claimed she exposed his genitals to friends at a party without consent.

A TV host subsequently claimed Perry touched her inappropriately and tried to kiss her at a party without consent.

These accusations followed an incident on American Idol in 2018, where Perry kissed a contestant on the lips during an audition without prior warning.
