The incident took place on January 19, 2025, at a house belonging to Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, 47. She is the principal of Roosevelt Elementary School. According to a
press release, the Cocoa Beach Police Department responded to a complaint about a house party at Hill-Brodigan's residence. When police arrived, they found 'over 100 juveniles' at the property, most in matching t-shirts. Police report that many of the kids were consuming alcohol, which was allegedly available in the house from a cooler. Officers also note in the press release that one juvenile experienced an 'alcohol-related event on the front lawn.' There aren't any precise details in the press release, but the CBPD says the juvenile was so heavily intoxicated that they needed help from Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR).
Authorities found another adult, who was also intoxicated, on the premises. She identified herself as Karly Anderson and told officers she was a teacher at the school the kids were from. This information has since been confirmed.
The Principal And Teacher Were Both Arrested Following The House Party
The press release also details several strange incidents at the residence. Most notably, police allege that Hll-Brodigan turned off the outside lights while the BCFR assisted the heavily intoxicated student before heading inside. The lack of light meant that the BCFR had to use lights on their vehicle for treatment. Police also allegedly conducted a traffic stop near the residence later that night. The stop resulted in the arrest of a juvenile for driving while drunk.
The press release concludes that authorities obtained arrest warrants for Hill-Brodigan and Anderson. Hill-Brodigan was arrested for holding an 'open party,' child neglect, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police also charged Anderson with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to the Daily Mail, online records show that Hill-Brodigan was released on a $3,500 bond, while Anderson was also released on a bond for $3,000. The news outlet also explains that no court dates are set at the time of writing.
