Randy Travis has been and continues to be one of the most inspiring personalities in all of country music. The Opry legend even helped create some holiday magic for a Gainesville, Fla. officer on Christmas Day.
According to NBCDFW, Officer Keith Bartlett was out on patrol during his Christmas Day shift to check on a suspicious vehicle. As it turned out, there was no suspicious vehicle to begin with. It was simply a diversion for a surprise.
Once Bartlett returned to the station, he was met not only by his own family, but Randy Travis and his loved ones. The Travis and Bartlett families knew each other well. When the Travis family's Gainesville ranch had been broken into a few years earlier, Bartlett had been a first responder on the scene.
The Travis family returned the favor when the Bartletts' lost their home in early December. The Travises offered up furniture and other necessities when they learned of the Bartletts' tragic loss.
As the families exchanged hugs and hellos, Travis took a moment to present Bartlett with a surprise. Bartlett loved playing guitar, but had lost his only Gibson in the fire earlier that month. Travis pointed to Bartlett's son, who was holding a brand new Gibson guitar, which the guitar manufacturer had overnighted to Gainesville.
Floored by the kindness of the Travis family, Bartlett began playing the guitar as Travis looked on. Needless to say, Christmas was a little brighter for the Bartlett family thanks to Travis' generosity.
