At two minutes to midnight, Nunes visited his boyfriend, Chris Dillon, at his Fort Lauderdale house located in Northeast 17th Court. "At 11:58, he surprises me," Dillon told NBC6. "He goes, 'You home?' He comes around the corner and has this big grin on his face. 'Hey,' he goes, 'I didn't want you to spend New Year's alone so I raced over here.'"·
Gladly surprised by Nunes, Dillon was delighted and felt fortunate to have him by his side as 2025 was just around the corner. According to the Daily Mail, the pair headed out to the pool deck area just behind Dillon's home. "I grabbed the back of his head and he grabbed the back of my head and forcefully had the most beautiful kiss," Dillon said. "It was so beautiful, backed off, I said, 'I love you,' he said 'I love you,' and then he fell."
A Stray Celebratory Bullet
Reportedly, an unidentified individual had taken a celebratory shot, whose trajectory came from some palm trees near Dillon's house. According to Dillon, Nunes was standing up "with his back to the waterway," when he suddenly fell. With experience as a flight attendant, Dillon attempted to help Nunes stand up, but he was unresponsive. He called 911 and, moments later, noticed something strange but worrying.
"I lifted up his T-shirt and about the size, not even an inch was a slit," Dillon said. The stray bullet had pierced through Nunes' stomach. With flight attendant experience, Dillon attempted to tend to Nunes' wounds, but his efforts were futile. Once police and paramedics arrived, hours later, they pronounced Angel Nunes dead.
Currently, police are investigating the incident to determine the actual source of the shot and whether it was a stray bullet that took Nunes' life or something else entirely.
