Florida Crash Leaves Woman Seriously Injured After Alligator Collision

The fundraiser, organized by Janelle Peachey, has raised more than $7,000 toward a $9,000 goal as support continues to pour in.

"Our dear friend Maslin Kurtz was in a tragic car accident on Sunday morning, March 5th," the description reads. "Due to hitting an alligator, she rolled her car and was in the ICU for a few days, dealing with a fractured shoulder, sternum, and spine."

"By the grace and mercy of God, she is now at home and recovering without the need for any surgeries!"

"Maslin is truly such an incredible, loving, and talented person filled with so much love and joy," the description added. "She is a light and friend to everyone she comes in contact with. She is so dearly loved and we are so thankful for all the angels surrounding her!"

The fundraiser highlights the financial strain of medical expenses. Along with the loss of income as Kurtz remains off work during her recovery.

Several generous donations have already been made. Including an initial $1,000 contribution from an anonymous donor, followed by another $1,000 donation from Joseph Ruggiero.

Separate Florida Crash Claims Life of Former NFL Player

In a separate incident, former NFL player Chris Payton-Jones died in a car crash in Alachua County, Florida. He was 30-years-old.

Payton-Jones was traveling with three other people when the vehicle reportedly collided "head-on" with a pickup truck. The impact caused the car to roll over and catch fire.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The three other occupants sustained "minor injuries."

It later emerged that his daughter had been born just three weeks before his death.

After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Payton-Jones spent time with multiple teams, including the Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and Las Vegas Raiders.

He also played in the XFL for the Seattle Sea Dragons and the St. Louis Battlehawks, last appearing during the 2024-25 season.
