HGTV's Flip or Flop stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are separating after seven years of marriage.

Troubles began emerging publicly in the couple's marriage this past spring. The two were involved in an altercation at their home in May. According to TMZ, 11 police officers and one helicopter responded to "a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun."

The couple says the incident was an "unfortunate misunderstanding." Christina and the couple's two children did moved out after and have not been living under the same roof since. Tarek still spends plenty of time with daughter Taylor and son Brayden.

Tarek and Christina have been married since 2009. The news is sad for HGTV fans, but they say their parenting and professional lives will forge ahead together.

"Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage," Fox411 reports. "During this process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be. We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."

HGTV is currently airing episodes of Flip or Flop. Production on future episodes will go on as scheduled.
