Flight Devolves Into Chaos After Man Allegedly Bites Passenger, “Trying To Fight Everybody” in the Air

The pilot explained that he believed the passenger could have been hallucinating, but he wasn't sure. He asked for EMTs to board the flight.

An American Airlines flight from Charlotte to Philadelphia ended in chaos after a man allegedly bit a fellow passenger. The wild incident ended in the pilot signalling for EMTs and police to enter the plane on its arrival.

According to The Sheffield Press, the incident happened on Sunday, June 21, with the flight landing at around 10:00 am local time.

An air traffic control recording captured the pilot's confusion as the incident played out. He described how the passenger was escalating in his anger and his actions. "I don't know... if he's hallucinating or whatever, but he just bit a passenger, and he's trying to fight everybody," he explained.

The flight was just reaching Philadelphia when the passenger started to become unruly. The pilot ended up needing to ask for medical personnel as well as law enforcement, for his words, "just as a precaution."

Details haven't been properly released as to the state of the bitten passenger. We also aren't sure if the unruly passenger ended up getting taken into custody.

The Flight Pilot Joked With Air Traffic Control During the Incident

When you're in this line of work, I guess it's not the most uncommon thing to see in the world. And, after all, it was Father's Day, so I guess everyone was feeling a little more chilled out than usual.

So the air traffic control call had a hilarious turn when the controller wished the pilot a happy Father's Day. The pilot responded, "I'll be sure to tell my daughters about this one."

Who knows what sort of wild stories these pilots must have to tell their kids! If it's anything like the other wild incidents we've seen during flights, their kids and grandkids would probably never hear the end of it.

There have been other recent passenger disturbances — it's a pretty worrying trend, all considered.

As we reported on when it happened, another recent case showed a passenger trying to invade the cockpit before jumping straight out of the plane. A jiu-jitsu fighter ended up needing to "physically" handle it.

If nothing else, we're just glad they feel able to joke about it.
