One part of the Nancy Guthrie case that was never unearthed was the very first ransom note that alerted cops that something had gone horribly, horribly wrong.
Other details were made public, like an anonymous tip placing Nancy's grave in Mexico. But this one was kept private... up until now.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, journalist Briana Whitney went into detail about the ransom. She appeared on an episode of Ashley Flowers' Crime Junkie podcast.
There, she read part of the letter aloud. She reported it came from an "unknown sender". This first ransom note was sent just one day after Nancy originally went missing. It asked for $4 million paid in Bitcoin by February 5, and, if that went unpaid, the price would be bumped to $6 million.
"Hello, Savannah. We have your mother, Nancy. She is safe but scared. She will be held for ransom, and once payment is received, she will be released unharmed. We will be holding her for a maximum of seven days."
Whitney then explains that the note gets continually more "demanding and snarky" as it goes on.
"Once payment is received to the Bitcoin address below, she will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a safe drop off location back in Tucson. If the payment is not received by the last deadline on Monday the 9th at 5 p.m., she will be killed."

The note continued, "Your mother is aware of this and her life is in your hands. It is in the best interest of everyone to have this completed as soon as possible. You will not be able to contact me from here on out. There will be no negotiation. Do not play games. Law enforcement will not be able to help you."
The letter concluded by explaining some pretty chilling details about the crime scene left at the home, if anyone had any doubt as to its authenticity. Whitney read, "She had a white smart watch that was on the floor near her bed, like at the foot of her bed, and then there was this floodlight that was destroyed in the backyard."
