First Look at Marty McFly's Epic 'Johnny B. Goode' in New 'Back to the Future' Musical

The 1985 classic leaves its flaming tire marks on Broadway.

Step into the DeLorean, buckle up, and rev your way through time with Back to the Future: The Musical, where the past and present collide in one epic time-traveling extravaganza.

The musical is now playing on Broadway and sets off on a tour of North America in the summer of 2024.

Casey Likes steps into the iconic role of Marty McFly, a spirited teenager who embarks on a time-traveling adventure in Doc Brown's modified DeLorean. Sent back to 1955, he must race against time to ensure his parents' love story blossoms.

EW just released a sneak peek at the musical adaptation of the iconic school dance scene. It's the climax of the story, and Marty has to stand in for the ill lead singer to ensure the romance of the evening flows uninhibited. Spur of the moment, he plays a cover of Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" for the students. It's a heck of a show, but the 1950s kids aren't sure what to make of Marty's blistering guitar solo. As Marty beams on stage triumphantly, they watch him with eyes wide and mouths agape. "Guess you're not ready for that yet," Marty famously says. "But your kids are gonna love it."

Back to the Future has become a beloved classic since its release in 1985. So there's plenty of pressure resting on the shoulders of Likes. Instead of trying to imitate the legendary Michael J. Fox, who plays Marty in the film, Likes wants to bring his own perspective to the role.  "I only rewatched the movie once in preparation for the role as to not do too many direct line readings from the movie," Likes says. "I just try to channel how Michael made me feel when hearing the dialogue, and that's how I try to make it my own."
