Firefighter Adopts and Raises Baby Girl He Helped Deliver on Call

When firefighter Marc Hadden received a call to help a woman with abdominal pains in 2011, he had no idea that his life was about change. When he and his crew arrived on the scene, they realized that her abdominal pains were actually labor pains.

It quickly became apparent that Hadden wouldn't have time to get the woman to the hospital. The only solution was to deliver the baby in the back of the ambulance. Thankfully, Hadden says the delivery was a quick one.

"It was a pretty serious call for us," he told Today. "We got her on some oxygen, started some IVs, and literally as we were getting ready to leave the parking lot in the ambulance, my partner said, 'We're about to deliver a baby right here.'"

Before Hadden knew it, he was holding a beautiful little girl in his arms. Surprisingly, he learned hours later that the new mother planned to put the baby up for adoption. Two days later, Hadden and his wife took the baby home, naming her Rebecca Grace. Just a few short months later, the Haddens officially adopted her into their family.

Grace now has two older brothers, Parker and Will. The entire family adores her and say her adoption perfectly completed their family. Today, Marc still serves as a firefighter but on a volunteer basis.

Grace has since grown into a beautiful five-year-old girl who loves gymnastics and soccer. She's well aware of her birth story and shares it with others proudly. Hadden has yet to give her the full details on her adoption and plans to wait until Grace is older to do so. But, with their great relationship, she is sure to take the news in stride and rely on her family's love when she needs it the most.
