I am a frequent traveler but after reading some of these horror stories I may stick to driving from now on. Passengers on a United Airlines flight got quite the scare on Wednesday when a fire broke out in the plane cabin.

Fire Breaks Out In Cabin On United Airlines Flight

I will be honest, when the flight crew goes over the safety measures I never assume I will actually have to use them. However now I am going to be paying extra close attention. The passengers on United Airlines Flight 3439 needed to use the chutes to exit the plane.
The Detroit-bound flight started off as any normal flight would. Safety checks were completed, passengers buckled up, and the plane had a smooth take off. However, shortly after take off the flight crew noticed something alarming — the smell of smoke. As soon as the smoke was detected it was assumed that there was a fire in the cabin somewhere.
The plane was forced to turn around and return back to Newark. The United Airlines flight returned only half an hour after their departure. Then, the plane deployed its chutes and passengers were evacuated from the plane. Following the evacuation, they were taken to the terminal via bus. Daily Mail shares that no injuries have been reported.
What Happened?
While many would assume it was a fire in the cabin that caused the smoke, the exact cause has not been confirmed. However the airline did reach out and warn other passengers that their flights may suffer delays due to the incident.
Daily Mail shares the statement that the airline issued. "We apologize to all affected for the inconvenience but the safety of our passengers and crew will always be our highest priority and we will always act to uphold that commitment." At this time, no further details on what caused the smoke on the United Airlines flight have been given.
