Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a classic. But behind the scenes, there wasn't much fondness, at least for one star. Getting candid, Mia Sara is reflecting on her time on the set and how she had a less than ideal experience on the film.

Sara said that she didn't get along with director John Hughes at all. That's a problem considering Sara played Sloane Peterson, one of the main trio.
"I don't really give interviews because making 'Ferris Bueller' was not that good an experience for me," she told the Sunday Times. "I'm very aware of what a precious thing this movie is, and I don't want to disappoint people. But I didn't get along well with John."
The actor said that Hughes was a strange dude. In particular, she didn't like that he tried to force the cast together for his own interests.
She said, "He wanted us all to hang out together and to introduce us to the French New Wave films."

"But the others were seasoned actors, and I was a snotty New York kid and had seen all those movies, so he was frustrated in that desire," she also explained. "I didn't have the emotional maturity to deal with other people's egos, or my own."
Meanwhile, Sara said that she struggled with having a massive crush on her on-screen boyfriend, Matthew Broderick. However, Broderick was dating co-star Jennifer Grey at the time.
"It was very much unrequited," she said. After the film and starring in some other movies, the actor became dissatisfied with Hollywood and acting. She decided to transition into being a writer isntead.
"I never really had the resilience to deal with the audition process," Sara admitted. "There are some things in my career that I'm really proud of, but overall it was not a happy career for me."
However, the actor recently made a return after taking years off from the industry. More recently, she starred in The Life of Chuck.
