In what may be one of the most uplifting and cutest stories of the year, this fawn was rescued from certain death, nursed back to health, and released back to her mother by a big-hearted hero.
She was born in nature aficionado Darius' backyard with a visible disability. As she couldn't keep up with her sibling, he mother quickly abandoned her. Luckily, Darius was on scene to take her in and rehabilitate her. He even thought to capture the whole experience on camera.
First he introduced her to the family.
And built her a makeshift splint. He continued to nurse her, feeding her every four hours as she gained her strength.
Over time, she began to heal. But not before she had formed bonds with Darius and his Bernese Mountain dog.
Finally, it came time that she was strong enough to release back to her family. Darius knew that he had to do everything he could to return her to the wild. He refused to name her so that he wouldn't become too attached, and tried to avoid letting her become too attached to him.
Their bond was tested when Darius attempted several times to release the fawn, but the fawn always followed him home.
At last, the fawn spotted its mother and rejoined her, providing a perfect ending to this story.
