'Father of the Bride 3' Could Be in the Works

There may finally be a third installment of the Father of the Bride film series in development.

Actor George Newbern said that the series writer and director, Charles Shyer, has finished a script for a third movie. Newbern played the fiancé Bryan in the films. He also played the role of Charlie on the ABC show Scandal.

"I don't know how far it got but I'm sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right," Shyer told US Weekly. "So maybe that's just a question of that happening."

The first movie came out in 1991 and starred comedian Steve Martin as the titular father. Kimberley Williams-Paisley played Annie, the bride in question. She also played Dana on the sitcom According to Jim. You may also know her as the wife of country star Brad Paisley.

The second film came out in 1995 and featured Williams-Paisley and her onscreen mom (played by Diane Keaton) both pregnant at the same time.

The Steve Martin version of Father of the Bride was itself a remake of the original 1950 movie which featured Spencer Tracy.
