According to a report by the Daily Mail, the incident was caught on video on Tuesday in the Mexican city of Tultitlán. The outlet reveals the short security feed.
A man in a long-sleeve white top stops in front of the camera. He likely didn't see it as it's behind a metal gate and fence. The man puts his hand in his bag and has a good look around before pulling out a blue plastic bag. The gate obscures the pavement from view in the footage, but he appears to place the bag on the ground carefully. After a few moments, he pulls out a black jacket and walks away.
While there's clearly something in the blue bag when the man holds it up, it's not 100% apparent what it is.
Off camera, paramedics reportedly rescued the baby and transported them to a local hospital. The Daily Mail explains that the baby is recovering and is under the custody of Mexico's National System for Integral Family Development.
The Child's Mother Reportedly Thought The Man Would Take Her Newborn Baby To Hospital
The baby's mother reportedly told Mexican news outlet Telediario that she was five months pregnant before going into labor at work. She allegedly felt a 'sharp spasm' near her stomach and noticed bleeding. The mother reportedly said, "After the bleeding, the baby came out. That's when I panicked and didn't know what to do."
The Daily Mail report suggests she gave the newborn child to her boyfriend. She assumed he was going to take the baby to a hospital. However, she found out later on social media that he dumped the child on the street instead.
The timeframe in the mother's story doesn't seem to line up unless she gave birth severely prematurely. Still, she isn't under criminal investigation, although the mother explained she is unsure when or if she will gain custody of her son. The mother also said she was concerned for her and her family's safety after the incident was spread online.
