We've all heard about the devastating impact AI data centers are having on our environment. However, according to Clayton Tucker, a candidate for the agriculture commissioner role in Texas, one farmer is living through a nightmare due to a data center near his farm.

Tucker revealed that an unnamed farmer, from an unnamed farm, has informed him that he hasn't had a single calf born since the data center was constructed. Instead, his cattle are producing "stillbirth after stillbirth."

The facility involved has not been clearly identified either."As such, there is no verifiable evidence regarding Tucker's claim. Still, that hasn't stopped the 'report' from going viral online, splitting opinion in the process. After all, there's still a whole lot of skepticism when it comes to artificial intelligence. Even more so when discussing its impact on the environment.
The problem is, with no verifiable source, Tucker's comments can easily be construed as saber-rattling. Nevertheless, the fact that the statement is so easily believable is proof that concerns regarding the impact of data centers continue to rise.
Artificial Intelligence Isn't Going Anywhere
If you're against artificial intelligence and the data centers that keep it running, then the bad news is that it isn't going anywhere. In fact, companies continue to scale their production and research. There appears to be a race to reach artificial general intelligence, which is a whole other can of worms that's best left unopened.
The environmental impact of these data centers remains a subject of significant debate. Until there is a full-scale, wide-ranging environmental review of these data centers and the surrounding areas, the issue will remain a flashpoint.
Of course, if that unnamed farmer comes forward, perhaps the conversation could be sped up. Anonymity is a right we can all choose to exercise. Yet, when that anonymity is what's holding back an important discussion, it becomes harder to justify.
Even if that farmer does come forward, their testimony is unlikely to change much. AI has taken hold of our daily lives. From here, we're only going to go deeper into the rabbit hole.
