We take that back. Audiences have some idea what will happen when the group's frontman, Sam Canty, showers the front row with beer. The raucous crowd follows suit, and chaos generally ensues.
Whereas your typical music performer puts the crowd's safety first, Treaty Oak Revival doesn't seem to care about it. The rules get thrown into the crowd like an empty beer can when "Boomtown" comes on. Then, seemingly every few months, some doofus takes it a step too far and hurts someone or, in one case, a member of the band.
Well, it's been a few months, so here's a clip of someone in the cheap seats throwing something they shouldn't.
Who Throws a Chair at a Treaty Oak Revival Show? Honestly!
The moment happened during the Rock the Country festival stop in Hastings, Michigan. One fan, whose level of sobriety we can't prove but can safely assume was veering toward "knocked out drunk," threw a folding chair into the crowd.
TikTok users captured the incident from several angles. The first comes from someone next to the chair tosser. And while we certainly don't want to encourage this type of behavior, we have to admit the chair went the distance.
Another angle shows the chair hurling toward someone. Thankfully, it looks like no one was seriously hurt. However, you can tell the impact surprised everyone.
"Oh my god, it's a chair," someone exclaims.
The third clip shows that someone did get whacked in the back of the head. Hopefully, that fan didn't have to visit the medical tent.
At Least It Wasn't a Garbage Can
Back in March, a group of Treaty Oak Revival fans made headlines when they threw a trash can into the crowd.
Last year, a beer can whacked Canty in the cheek. It even threw his mic off its stand.
For its part, Treaty Oak Revival has told fans to tone it down. Guitarist Lance Vanley said the group doesn't encourage it.
"The whole thing, where it just turned into throwing full cans, cups, and stuff, became more dangerous," he explained.
Maybe the next step is taking "Boomtown" off the playlist? That would get the message across and keep the crowd safe.
