30 Rock star Grizz Chapman has tragically passed away at the age of 52, as reported by Variety.
His cousin, Donte "Hammer" Harrison, and one of the Harlem Globetrotters, announced that he had tragically died after battling an illness. "Life gave my cousin Grizz Chapman some heavy battles, but he fought them with strength and dignity until the very end," Harrison wrote.
This is in reference to the 30 Rock star's previous health issues. According to MSN, Chapman had previously faced health issues. Renee Glicker, the 30 Rock star's manager, explained that the legendary actor had "been suffering from an assortment of medical conditions" and was "just struggling to stay alive."
Harrison's statement continued, "A lot of people knew him as the sitcom star from 30 Rock, but we knew the man behind the screen. A good heart, good energy, and somebody who made an impact in this life."
"After years of fighting illness and dialysis, he passed peacefully in his sleep on May 22nd, 2026." Chapman had previously received a kidney transplant in 2010, but, according to his manager, he needed another one—something that proved to be difficult given his tall stature.
To end his statement, Harrison reflected on his time with Chapman. "I'm thankful we got time to reconnect 2 months before his passing. Rest easy, cousin. Your name and legacy will live on forever."
