Losing a pet is brutal. It's just as bad as losing a family member. We spend years doting on them, caring for them, and then suddenly, they're gone, and a giant hole has been left in our lives. Sadly, for one Georgia-based family, it turns out that their grieving was all for nothing.

According to The New York Post, the family had paid a veterinary clinic to have their pug put to sleep. However, just months later, they found out via Facebook that a worker at the clinic actually took the pug home. Shockingly, the pug appeared to be perfectly healthy.
To make matters worse, when the family in question demanded answers about their dog, the clinic allegedly took possession of the beloved animal and put it to sleep, per WSB-TV.
"Cha Cha was adored by Belote and her family but was suffering organ failure from diabetic ketoacidosis, per WSB-TV.
After speaking with the Senoia Animal Hospital in Coweta County, Belote was advised to have her beloved dog euthanized. The family agreed. So, you can imagine their shock when they found out the pup was alive and seemingly well. According to The New York Post, the employee's husband informed Belote that the dog had recovered and was now with them.

The entire situation is shocking. It's something straight out of a sitcom on television. However, the fact that a worker had the pug is the lesser of the two events that unfolded. If the pug was truly doing better, it should never have been put down once the clinic had been questioned.
"The fact that they put a healthy dog down. That's just sick," Belote told WSB-TV.
Furthermore, Belote has noted that the clinic denies dog napping.
Unfortunately, whether the clinic admitted to the incident or not, the pug has now lost its life. A family grieved for no reason, only to find hope and then be forced to grieve again. The entire situation is a heartbreaking series of events that, frankly, could have, and should have, been avoided.
