According to Fox 13, the incident occurred at Stage Road and Sycamore View in Bartlett, Tennessee. Bartlett Alderman Kevin Quinn confirmed the number of injured people in the crash. At the same time, one of the family's relatives revealed that all six of them were members of the same family, traveling to a funeral in a limo. Fortunately, nobody died in the crash.
According to a GoFundMe, it was Katelynn Gooden, a mother, and her family who were injured in the crash. Katelynn was hurt the most, having suffered a "severe fracture" that has left her unable to work. Reportedly, she will recover fully in about three months. The fundraiser also confirmed that the family was travelling to attend Katelynn's grandmother's funeral.
Crash Details
Alderman Quinn spoke with WMC and discussed the details of the crash. He revealed that there were no crossing guards in the area.
"There are no crossing guards here because of the complexity of the area," Quinn said. He added, however, that there were "plenty of warning lights." "I know, for me living 500 feet away that they do lay on the whole day and night, so you can always hear a train coming," Quinn added.
As a result of the crash, the intersection where it took place was shut down for hours.
Aisha Shabree, one of Gooden's relatives, talked to Fox 13 and revealed how they all found out about the crash while at the funeral.
"One of my aunties pulled up and she was like, 'When it rains it pours,'" Shabree said. She was shocked by her aunt's words. "I was like, 'What?' 'The family car just got hit by a train.' Then, of course, shock. Like, what?" she added.
Shrabree also confirmed that one of the injured was a child. Fortunately, just like the rest of the injured, including Katelynn Gooden, they will recover from their injuries.
