Another America's Got Talent alum is returning to help fill the void while Simon Cowell continues his recovery from back surgery. Heidi Klum has spent 11 nonconsecutive seasons as a judge on America's Got Talent and will be returning for what is likely a one-off appearance in an upcoming episode.

Klum initially joined AGT in season eight. She spent six straight seasons on the judges' panel before moving on to other things in 2018. However, in 2020, she returned to the show for another three seasons before once again stepping away.
AGT appears content with filling Cowell's vacant spot with cameo appearances from former judges. In truth, it's not a bad plan. The AGT fanbase is full of long-time viewers who will undoubtedly welcome a string of cameo appearances.
The first live episode Cowell missed following his surgery came on August 25. Terry Crews addressed his absence with the crowd.
"You may have noticed that Simon Cowell is not here. He's having an operation that cannot be postponed," Crews said, via TV Line. "It's not an emergency, but it can't be put off. Simon, we are sending you our very best wishes for a speedy recovery. And we are looking forward to seeing you at the judges' desk very soon."
America's Got Talent Replaced Hedi Klum With Mel B
When Heidi Klum left America's Got Talent in 2019, the show pivoted to Mel B, with the former Spice Girl taking her spot on the judges' panel. At the time, NBC released a statement regarding Klum's exit, wishing her the best in her future endeavors.
"Heidi has been an incredible part of AGT, bringing her signature charm, expertise and warmth to the show," a representative for the show said in a statement, via PEOPLE. "We are enormously grateful for her many contributions and the impact she has had while celebrating the world's greatest talent with us. We'd love for our paths to cross again."
America's Got Talent fans were alerted to Klum's return when Crews made the announcement at the end of the last episode.
"We will have another guest judge next week," Crews said. "Yes, Heidi will be back at the judges' desk. How cool is that? Are you excited? I'm excited. The chair is ready and waiting for you, Heidi."
While fans will be pleased to welcome Klum back, they're likely already speculating who could be the next cameo to fill Cowell's vacant seat. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long before finding out.
