Famed Recording Studio Is Not Being Moved, Despite Viral April Fools' Joke

John Carter Cash recently shared a post to Instagram, claiming he was moving the famed recording studio to the Caribbean island.

Don't panic, Cash Cabin isn't being moved to Jamaica. On Wednesday, April 1, Johnny Cash's son, John Carter Cash shared a post to Instagram claiming he was moving the famed recording studio to the Caribbean island.

"Cash Cabin studio will be moved to Jamaica, basically. Not log for log, but all of the gear and the entire production crew," Carter Cash wrote in the post. "I would also like to invite any of the Nashville musicians who are reading this to please come and record with us there! Jamaica means the world to me and from this point on it is going to be my world, completely. We are going to be calling the studio 'Cash Cabin South.' Please come visit us."

Despite being posted on April Fool's Day, it would appear a large number of fans didn't get the joke. After all, the Cash family does own land in Jamaica, so moving there wouldn't have been too much of a stretch. As such, Carter Cash ultimately had to post an update to his Instagram, informing everyone that his original post was a joke. More importantly, Cash Cabin would remain in Tennessee, where it belongs.

"Guys. This is too funny," Carter Cash wrote. "There are people sending Ana and me messages wishing me good luck and my new life in Jamaica. So many didn't think to look at the calendar when they read what I wrote. It was an April Fools joke! I love Jamaica, but I would never leave the Cash Cabin!! I can't wait till next year to see what I can figure for next April Fools."

John Carter Cash Recently Gave a Glimpse Inside the Cash Cabin

During a recent upload to the "Huckberry" YouTube channel, John Carter Cash finally gave fans a peek inside the Cash Cabin.

"Originally, it was just a cabin in the woods," he said. "My father and mother would travel on the road, and so he wanted to have a place that was close to the house where he could go and just relax, take it easy, and sort of be away from everything."

The cabin had an 1800s organ sitting in the corner and a sealed Johnny Cash guitar pick separating the studio and console room. You also saw the recording area and a rack of guitars. The entire virtual tour was something music fans will cherish.

Thankfully, the next virtual tour won't be taking place in Jamaica, either.
