Ernie Anastos has sadly passed away at the age of 82. Ernie, a famed news anchor within the tristate area, became a legendary voice throughout New York during his illustrious career. Upon learning of his death, Fox 5 released a short statement.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Ernie Anastos. Who died at the age of 82," the statement said. "An Emmy Award-winning journalist and beloved former Fox 5 news anchor. His voice, integrity, and lasting impact on New York journalism will never be forgotten."
According to CBS 2, Ernie passed away from pneumonia on Thursday, March 12. He was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital.
Throughout his career, Ernie worked for multiple top news outlets within New York television networks. They included ABC 7, CBS 2, WWOR and then a second spell with CBS. Ernie was previously inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
In 2005, Ernie signed a deal with Fox 5, teaming up with Rosanna Scotto to deliver the nightly news. He remained in that role for 15 years before leaving to enroll in leadership management classes at Harvard Business School, per the New York Post.
Ernie Anastos Worked in Radio Before His Death
In recent times, Ernie has been working as a radio host on 77WABC radio. Ernie was a big proponent of being factual and truthful in his reporting, something he recently doubled down on in a video he posted to Instagram.
"We have to teach truth in our homes and in our schools. Wherever we have that opportunity," he recently said in an Instagram video. "I think we all have to sit back and say let's stand up for truth. And support it and make sure that we live it on a day-to-day basis."
As you would expect, an outpouring of love has arisen following the news of Ernie's passing, with statements being posted across multiple social media sites.
