Country superstar Faith Hill is mourning the loss of her mother. Edna Perry passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Miss. She was 80 years old.
Perry was married to her husband, Wesley “Ted” Perry, for 59 years. The couple adopted Hill just days after she was born, and raised her alongside two brothers in the small town of Star, Mississippi. Hill credits her mother’s support during those humble beginnings as the inspiration to pursue a career in music.
“My mother had incredible strength. [She] is the rock of our family,” Hill said during a 2006 interview on Larry King Live. “I actually had a pretty amazing childhood. My mom and my dad and my brothers, they are amazing, very stable, good Christian, God-fearing home, and a great small town of Star, Mississippi. I actually had a really stable childhood.”
Perry’s visitation was held on Oct. 31 in Florence, Miss. Her funeral service will be private.
Edna Perry is survived by her husband, two sisters, a brother, three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Wide Open Country sends their condolences to the entire Hill/McGraw family.
