Ella Langley Reveals Her Very Surprising Holistic Pre-Show Ritual

A lot of artists take a shot before taking the stage, but Ella Langley's pre-show ritual is a lot healthier than that. The 26-year-old reveals she and her entire band use peppermint oil as a way to calm their nerves, right before her show begins.

"We've been doing, very consistently, peppermint oil," Langley tells Audacy. "We just put a little bit in the palm of our hand, rub it together, and kind of talk about our intentions on the show and what we want the show to be for us, for them, for the crowd. Just all the good vibes that you could possibly think of for walking out there, and then rubbing your hands together and then taking three massive breaths in."

Langley says they also do what she calls "loose body dancing," which is equally helpful.

"It just opens everything up. And it's kind of like, 'Whoa,' like a little bit of an adrenaline rush almost," Langley explains, comparing it to how athletes use smelling salts before a game.

"It's kind of a similar thing to that, but probably not as intense," she adds. "It's just a little more natural."

Ella Langley's Busy Tour Schedule

Langley might need to buy stock in peppermint oil. Langley is currently headlining her own shows, plus joining Riley Green on his tour, as well as opening for select dates on Morgan Wallen's Tour. While with Wallen, Langley takes the part of Tate McRae on "What I Want," from Wallen's latest I'm The Problem album.

Langley unashamedly recently revealed how she made sure she didn't forget the lines to the song - by writing them on her hand!

Langley swears by the peppermint oil, but does offer a cautionary tale for other artists who want to copy her pre-show ritual.

"Don't get it in your eyes though if you do it," Langley warns. "It stays on your hands and we've all done it where we're all in the show, like our eyes are watering because there's so much peppermint oil in our eyes."

Langley's busy tour schedule ends in November, with two back-to-back headlining shows at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
