Driver Somehow Drove Car onto Train Station's Tracks: "Following Her GPS"

Witnesses noticed she had entered the train tracks at street level, but she ended up three stories above ground with her vehicle teetering.

GPS is famously pretty darn frustrating to follow. At least in my time in the car, we've ended up going here, there, and everywhere rather than our intended destination.

But I (and most likely... everyone) have never blundered this badly. Or at least I'd hope not!

That's because a driver sent their car straight onto railroad tracks at Mount Baker Station in Seattle. As reported by Yahoo!News, the wild incident occurred on Tuesday, May 2.

She had drove her red SUV right onto the elevated tracks, leaving it teetering dangerously above the road below. The driver was later identified as a 70-year-old woman who insisted she was just "following her GPS directions".

Witnesses explained that the woman had entered the track at street level, before seemingly driving it straight up to three stories above ground.

Strangely enough, the woman didn't seem to be intoxicated, either. However, officers noted that she did appear "confused", and took extra time to answer the cops' questions.

Paramedics ended up transporting her to hospital in order to evaluate her condition further.

According to Sound Transit, services between Seattle's SODO Station and Othello station had to be cancelled. The alert came out around 6:15pm.

The alert was kept up until 10:30pm, where trains resumed their normal duty. The train crews had to use a swing loader to lift the car up before placing it back on the ground.

Social Media Had Mixed Reactions to the Train Tracks Debacle

Commenters had mixed reactions to the whole thing.

Some empathised with her. One commentor, who explained he drove the same Mazda CX-5, said that the "CX-5 is so smooth she probably had no idea she was even on train tracks". In any case, he did also announce that "this lady does not represent the broader CX-5 motoring community."

Others were more cynical about the situation. One commentor wrote, "The tracks transition from street level to elevated a half mile away. Did she not think to put the car in reverse?" Another wrote, "She realizes she's on train tracks but keeps driving???"

In any case, more than anything else we just hope she's okay.
