President Donald Trump has never been one to stay quiet. More recently the president shared his thoughts on baseball and the state of the MLB.

In particular, Trump took issue with the New York Mets. His comments come at a Georgia rally where he introduced Atlanta Braves President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Plant and former manager Brian Snitker to audiences.
"So I like baseball. I like baseball. But this guy's done such a great job," he said. But he then turned his attention to calling out the Mets, which went 43-60 through the first half of the season.
"The Mets have the highest salary in baseball, and they lose all the time," Trump said via The Wall Street Journal.
Trump Calls Out Baseball Team
"And I say, maybe we could steal [Plant]. You don't realize how good [Plant] is," the president also added. "There are teams like that, where they never go down. Then you have other teams — 'We're rebuilding.' They've been rebuilding for years. I don't want to mention teams cause I know all the owners. They're all friends of mine. I'll get myself in trouble. This guy never rebuilds. He just stays at the top. He's amazing."
For Mets fans, the president's words is likely only adding salt to the wound. The MLB team hasn't had an exactly fire season so far. They're only on pace to win 68 out of 162 games for the 2026 season. That places them last in the National League East division.
Meanwhile, Trump recently welcomed the Dodgers to the White House. The president praised Los Angeles star Shohei Ohtani after the team took home the World Series last season.
Trump said, "He's amazing. He's amazing. Everybody loves him. Last year, Shohei did what was previously unthinkable. Nobody thought it was possible. He collected his third straight unanimous league MVP with a franchise-record 55 home runs. And ?if you would have ?told me you can ?be the best pitcher and the best hitter at the same time, you know, Babe Ruth was pretty close to that."
"I'm thrilled to say ?welcome back to the White House," he also added, "and maybe I'll see you again next year."
