Dolly Parton to Release Her First Children's Album

Although Dolly Parton has had a long and eventful career, she's stepping into new territory with her next musical project. The country legend has just announced she will release her first-ever children's album later this year.

I Believe In You, due out on Oct. 13, will feature both new songs and recordings of some of her classics, like "Coat of Many Colors." The LP also ends with a recording of Parton reading her children's book of the same name.

I Believe In You drops Oct. 12.

The move to create a children's album seems like a natural fit for Parton, who founded her Imagination Library organization to make sure every kid has access to books.

"My first album was released 50 years ago, and it's been an amazing 50 years since then," Parton said in a statement. "I am very excited that now I'm coming out with my first children's album in all of those 50 years. I'm proudest of all that all of the proceeds from this CD will go to the Imagination Library. It's been 20 years since the Imagination Library was launched. We've seen 100 million books get into the hands of children and hopefully there will be many more."
