Dolly Parton is synonymous with the Great Smoky Mountains, where she grew up. However, she currently resides in Brentwood, a suburb of Nashville.

Visitors will soon be seeing a lot more of the country music icon's name in Music City. Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel and Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum are scheduled to open their doors later this year.

But where does this Queen of Country Music go when she's in Nashville? She recently shared some of her favorite destinations, and though we're biased, we think it's a pretty great list.

Nashville Has a Lot of Memories for Dolly Parton

In an interview with Airmail, the "9 To 5" singer shared that when she moved to Nashville with her Uncle Bill in 1964, she would often visit Music Row.

"I walked up and down 16th and 17th Avenues looking for anyone who'd listen to the songs I wrote," she recalled.

Parton would eventually begin recording her songs at RCA Studio B, including her breakthrough hit, "Jolene." You can now tour this spot, which is now part of the Country Music Hall of Fame. She also began performing on the Ryman Auditorium stage, where she was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1969.

"Since then, I've performed many times at the Ryman, whether it be for television specials or for my own concerts," Parton said.

Now, Parton has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for over five decades. The show now takes place at the Grand Ole Opry House. She filmed a special celebrating her 50th year with the country music institution in 2019.

Dolly Parton Filmed Part of Her Show at Tootsie's

Back when Parton had a variety series, the appropriately named Dolly!, she filmed a segment at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. It's conveniently located across the alley from the Ryman Auditorium.

"When I moved to Nashville, it was known that if you couldn't find someone backstage, there was a good chance they were at the bar at Tootsie's," Parton shared.

Nowadays, you can see Parton's name on the Music City Walk of Fame. Last year, she premiered her Threads: My Songs In Symphony show at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. She said she loves the new offerings in Nashville, including the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.

"When they added the beautiful pedestrian bridge years back, it connected East Nashville to Downtown," she said. "I filmed the music video for my single 'Together You & I' on this bridge in 2011."
