Dolly Parton Just Released a Version of 'Jolene' Like You've Never Heard it Before

Parton teamed up with the rock band rock band Måneskin for the tune.

Dolly Parton's classic song "Jolene" has been recorded many times by various artists, and the country legend just dropped a brand new version of the song with rock band Måneskin. Recorded for the extended edition of Parton's new Rockstar album, the version takes the original 1973 song and adds a bit of rock flair.

The track is available to download exclusively on Parton's website, but she gave fans a taste of the rendition in a clip shared to social media. The short video shows Parton and the band recording the tune in the studio. Sonically, the new rendition stays close to the original with the recognizable acoustic guitar, but the voice of frontman Damiano David complementing Parton's adds something entirely new.

The song was released alongside Parton's version of Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" as exclusive tracks. She announced the addition of the songs on Nov. 19.

"Surprise! Did you all think I was done?" she wrote on Instagram. "I'm giving you not one but TWO more 'Rockstar' bonus tracks. Download "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Jolene" (feat. @maneskinofficial) now exclusively on my website."

Parton released Rockstar on Nov. 17. She was inspired the record the album after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When the nominations were announced in the spring of 2022, Parton initially declined the honor, citing the fact that she's never made a rock record. However, she soon accepted the honor and vowed to make a rock album.

The project features collaborations with a wide range of artists from rock and roll and beyond. Included among them are Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Joan Jett, Miley Cyrus, Pink and Brandi Carlile.
