Woman Had Scissors In Stomach For 17 Years From C-Section

On February 28, 2008, Pandey gave birth to her child through a C-section. Since then, she has experienced continuous abdominal pain, according to her husband's police complaint, per India Today. For 17 years, Pandey visited multiple doctors to try and figure out the cause of her pain.
Nonetheless, her condition stayed the same until she recently received an X-ray at Lucknow Medical College. This was for a different medical evaluation entirely, so she was stunned to see a pair of medical scissors in her stomach.
Finally, on March 26, Pandey underwent surgery to get the scissors out of her abdomen. She went to King George's Medical University (KGMU), and the surgery was a success. A KGMU spokesperson revealed this wonderful news, despite it being a complicated operation.
The hospital has since discharged her, and she can continue living her life without that harrowing abdominal pain. Rightfully so, her husband made a complaint against Dr. Pushpa Jaiswal. This was the doctor who performed her C-section 17 years ago, and the complaint points to medical negligence.
Family Member Reveals More Details On Social Media
In a Reddit post allegedly from Pandey's child, they vented about the doctor who left 7-inch scissors in their mother. The post reveals more devastating information about how this medical accident affected their mother.
"It was a ceaserean operation for my brother who is in highschool today," they said. "Over the years my mom developed diabetes and had constant digestive issues. The doctors would chalk all her symptoms to be effects of her diabetic medications."
The surgery also made her develop "a fatty liver which was again blamed on the meds." Their mother complained about severe back pain, leading her to receiving an MRI scan. "The technician couldn't clear her for the same and insisted that she was carrying a metal body."
With that red flag, they went to get a CT scan which revealed the object. They they claimed that the hospital "refused to give us pur reports, gaslighting us that the technician had said "ceaserean" and we'd accidentally heard "scissors."
All these claims are pretty damning since it seemed like multiple doctors attempted to downplay Pandey's pain. That's when she finally got the X-ray. The child then called out Dr Sameer Mishra from KGMU for helming the 2-hour operation.
They described Dr Mishra as an "absolute god" for not only removing the object, but noticing more issues. "There was a massive cyst that had formed on the top of the [scissors], and her intestine took a lot of damage too," they added.
