San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car crash earlier this month. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Shanahan was "badly injured" in the accident.

"San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered significant injuries in a car crash on July 14 near his home in Los Gatos. He collided with a sport utility vehicle and will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp, the team said," the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Now, dispatch audio that has been obtained from The New York Post sheds new light into the scene.
You're responding to an accident at Alma St. and Hamilton Ave," an officer can be heard saying as they direct emergency personnel. "It's going to be a black Tesla vs. a blue Mercedes," the woman said. "There are reports of one driver bleeding from the head."
In a statement, the Palo Alto Police Department confirmed that neither driver had been cited for the incident.
"There is no impairment suspected, and both drivers remained on scene and were cooperative with the police," a spokesperson for the police department said. "No one was cited for the collision. There will be no information released regarding the cause of the collision or who was at fault."
Kyle Shanahan Suffered Multiple Injuries in the Crash
According to ESPN, Shanahan suffered a broken nose, fractured ribs, a facial laceration requiring 40 stitches. He also had a concussion. When speaking with the media on Saturday, July 25, Niners general manager John Lynch admitted that Shanahan will be limited in his ability to coach the Niners throughout their upcoming training camp.
"Kyle basically is going to be like in the protocol," Lynch said. "Doc [Anthony Saglimbeni] and all the great doctors we have are giving him great care. We're going to let you know [his] condition... the doctors dictate how he comes back, when he comes back."
Despite his limited role in the upcoming training camp, everyone will be pleased that Shanahan's injuries are relatively minor. Car crashes are incredibly dangerous, so the fact he'll make a full recovery is certainly a blessing.
